Bayshore HealthCare is one of Canada's largest providers of home and community health care, employing more than 18,000 staff and serving upwards of 450,000 clients each year. Founded in 1966 and Canadian-owned, the company operates in every province through more than 80 home care offices, over 100 community care clinics and 11 pharmacies. Work is delivered across four divisions: Bayshore Home Health, which provides personal care and medical nursing in clients' homes; Bayshore Home Care Solutions, which builds customized community-based care plans; Bayshore Specialty Rx, covering specialty pharmacy and infusion therapy; and Bayshore Medical Personnel, which supplies staffing to government-funded health care programs.
The range of services spans home health care, community health care, medical nursing, specialty pharmacy, infusion therapy, therapy and rehabilitation, and health care staffing - each a distinct field of practice for clinicians and support staff. Roles therefore extend beyond nursing to pharmacy, rehabilitation therapy, care coordination and administrative work, with the staffing division placing medical personnel into publicly funded programs.
Bayshore states that its purpose is to enhance the quality of life, dignity and independence of its clients, with an emphasis on enabling them to remain in their own homes. The company has been named a Platinum member of Canada's Best Managed Companies program every year since 2006 and has received Accreditation Canada's highest honour.
